How to Raise Healthy Kids

At Nourish-ed we’re very passionate about creating and raising healthy kids. Between us we have a lot of kids in our lives, and Helen works with children suffering asthma, allergies, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, severe chronic constipation or diarrhoea, behavioural and mood problems, ADHD and those on the autism spectrum. As a result we constantly see the impact of food, lifestyle and treatment choices on children, our future adults.

It’s concerning enough that 1 in 5 adults in Australia is diagnosed with anxiety or depression (*ABS), but now numbers in children are rising dramatically. Rates of autism, autoimmune, digestive and allergic conditions continue to jump up. As has been clearly demonstrated, these increased rates are not a result of genes alone, but more what we are doing to our genes. This is the field of epigenetics (epi = on top of) and it’s an empowering field to be in, because it means the lifestyle, food and treatment choices we make can change how our genes express themselves.

At Nourish-ed we aim to promote awareness and provide education about treatment options for immune disorders, digestive disorders and neurological disorders such as Autism, Asperger Syndrome and AD/HD, all of which have been on the rise in children the last couple of decades. Dietary intervention, naturopathic solutions and a biomedical approach are crucial for the effective treatment of these disorders.

Try making a paleo zuncihci bread. The one I made uses 6 eggs and a 1/2 cup of coconut flour, along with other yummies. Its almost like eating a custard, it is so light and delicious!I am going to make these cupcakes for a going away party that I am throwing in a week. Yahoo!
