Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the lungs. Symptoms of asthma include:
Asthma can range from mild to severe and life threatening.
Asthma is triggered by antibodies (immune complexes that are produced in response to an allergy) causing inflammation that then affects the respiratory tract.
Eczema is essentially the same illness as asthma except that the inflammation affects the skin instead. Many people who have asthma also have eczema. Others will alternate between asthma and eczema. Most people with asthma have multiple allergies to airborne substances, chemicals and foods and often have digestive dysfunction, even if it is not symptomatic.
