


Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is an inflammatory condition of the colon (large intestine). The colon becomes inflamed developing swelling and ulcers. Individuals with chronic ulcerative colitis have a higher risk of developing colon cancer. UC can be mild in its early stage and develop rapidly into a more severe condition. There are periods between flare-ups where there are no symptoms at all.
